How many Android devices will be shipped by the end of 2010
Google CEO Eric Schmidt, gave the keynote today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. One of the key tidbits of information he gave out is that Google and OEMs are shipping 60,000 Android devices a day. (WOW!!!)
That by itself sounds like a pretty large number but if you simply extrapolate that number over 365 days, it means that by the end of 2010 there would be more than 20 million Android mobile phones (not including tablets and net books and various other devices) shipped by the end of 2010. If in fact these numbers are valid, it means Google should see its market share rise dramatically this year. Android so far was getting the most gain in percentage among all the major mobile phone platforms already but those numbers are just going to put it far away in the lead among all the mobile platforms this year.
