HTC – the maker of the both G1 and G2 is preparing to launch HTC phone with customized Android operating system. A preview of some of the features can be seen in the following video demonstrating some of the awesome features that are soon coming to the Android users. Since Android is open source anyone can enhance and change the operating system and this is what HTC did so far. It is clear that the main functionality was not changed at all, but the phone is definitely much more compelling.

As for the hardware, it seems that the phone will finally have a 3.5 mm jack for audio. It is similar to G2 in a form factor but does not have the trackball which is probably right since it seems not so many people ever use it at all. This is definitely going to be an exciting year for Android. 18 (!!!) devices are expected to become available from major manufacturers by the end of the year. My guess is we will definitely see low budget devices from generic electronics companies running Android and ready to go with any carries (i.e. unlocked), especially in the Asian markets where most of the electronic production industry is now centralized.

It may beat to the punch the reported release of Dream running Androidn in Spain that we reported earlier. There are rumorred to be 4 different plans starting quite low and ending quite high. Interestingly enough, Orange is not a member of the OHA (Open Handset Alliance) unlike Vodafone which seemed to be the main distributor of HTC Dream in Europe up to that point of Orange announcing their support of Dream starting in France and then who knows.
